What happens when you Google yourself?

Some people want to be found, and others don’t. Its a fact of life, the way a person is, and the way they were raised.

If you are in business for yourself, you should be the one they are finding when they search your name. Now I know if your name is Joe Smith, or John Brown this may not be the easiest feat in the world, but I can give you some sure fire ways to be found.

Some of the top sites to come up when you have accounts are LinkedIn, Facebook, Pintrest and Google +

In my case, when you search Tom Strubinger – my LinkedIn profile does not come up, because I am Thomas Strubinger there… but I do dominate for my name, out of the 9 listings here, 7 of them are a representation of me. only #7 and  #9 are not me.

google yourself

If you were to Google Thomas Strubinger I only have 4 of the 8 shown here. My author page from my website is #1, and my LinkedIn profile is #2 but most people know me as Tom and not Thomas. You will also find my google + profile here.

So whats the point?

The point is if you are in business for yourself you should know what comes up when someone Google’s you. If you have a common name, then it probably isn’t a big deal, but when it is relatively rare like mine you should be the one coming up, and it should be the good stuff about you, not bad.

An easy way to be at the top of Google for your name is with a LinkedIn profile, fill it out 100%, it usually will be the top listing on a Google search, unless you are a rock star like me. LOL just kidding, seeing if anyone is really paying attention here. Also fill out Google+ profile 100%, and sign up for Facebook, and fill it out to. Even if you have no desire to actually use these tools for networking, you should be there so people can find you. All of them will email you when people try to connect with you, and I promise they will.  You never know what business might come out of such a simple effort at social media.

If you really want to take it to the next level, hire us and we will manage all of your social media and make sure you are #1 on Google for your name and your businesses keywords
